After their parents died, Nicholas had to grow up quickly. His younger sister Dragonshy was a delicate child and it became his job to protect her.

 

As an adolescent Nicholas sometimes had a hard time dealing with his anger towards his parents and his responsibility for his sister. He got into fights more often than any of the other dragons his age. He at one point had the end of his tail nearly broken off during a really bad fight. It's still crooked at the tip and has a few spikes missing near the end. 

 

When he dragged himself home to Dragonshy she was horrified by his condition. His little sister had to patch him up after this fight and he promised she would never again have to worry about him coming home broken, he was going to be dependable. 

 

He has kept to his word as well as he is able, he has had a few injuries, but most of them were for work purposes. 

 

His reputation for being a bit of a rough and tumble chap has served him well in his purposes as an all around useful dragon. He is hireable to do just about anything, gardening, bodyguarding, mending, you name it. He gets many offers as a bouncer but finds that those jobs worry Dragonshy more than he'd like, so he tries to go for jobs that are a little safer.

 

 He still loves the art of a good fight and practices techniques on a regular basis. Someday he'd like to open up a dojo or some such place to teach other dragons what he's learned. He'd like to be a mentor to younger dragons who have a bit of a hard time fitting in. He'd like dragons like his sister to have a place to go where they don't have to worry about bullies, just about working out and keeping up.

 

He has a fascination with the fire element despite the fact that his affinity is for Air, because of this he spends some time hanging around the solitary Wren in hopes of learning more about it. Which as it turns out is also a good way to keep watch over Dragonshy. 

 

He tries to make sure to fix things for Wren so that she won't become annoyed by the siblings' presence.
